A Day of Connection, Rooted in Community Wisdom

This Earth Day, we're harvesting more than just ideas; we're acting on a powerful lesson from our own community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the 'Kovic Gardens' initiative proved that Penticton is ready to grow. We rediscovered that the knowledge is in our bones, the readiness was already there, and everyone, from carpenters to IT experts, has a skill to share. This event is the scaffolding to make those connections happen on a grand scale. Join us to celebrate the hands, young and old, that are already building our resilient future, rooted in the action plan of the Food for All study.

Rooted in Community, Ready to Grow

This event isn't starting from scratch. It's built on a foundation of proven community spirit. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the 'Kovic Gardens' initiative from the Food for All study delivered gardens and food directly to Penticton residents. Through this, we learned three powerful things: 1) The knowledge is in our bones. Many were reconnecting to skills their parents and grandparents took for granted. 2) Our community was ready. People had been thinking about growing their own food and were waiting for a catalyst. 3) Everyone has something to give. We met IT experts, carpenters, soil companies, and salvagers—all eager to offer their unique skills to help their neighbors. This Earth Day is that catalyst on a larger scale.
